I have decided it is now definately time to retire from bird breeding.
I retired from the corporate world in 2004, and needed something to keep me active and busy.
In my working life since coming to South Africa in 1972, I have worked as a Crane driver at Iscor, I have also worked in Payroll departments, eventually being fully in charge of large payroll departments as a Payroll Administrator.
In between positions in payroll departments, I have worked with Architects as a design draughtwoman. My training in the UK as a light engineering draughtwoman eventually led me into architecture.
Since my retirement, I started to design houses and draw plans on a part-time basis until I started breeding birds. I have been enjoying my time as a bird breeder, hand-raising baby birds. getting to see the little personalities develop.
Seeing the joy on the faces of the families that bought my babies, especially the children who received my little ones.
Now as my years are catchig up with me, I find that the work of raising and the cleaning of their aviaries are getting to much for me. I have sold most of my breeding pairs and have only my pet birds left, and my Budgerigars. These I will be giving to my good friends Flippie and Karen, as I know that they will give them the love and care that they received from myself.
I am in the process of selling my house and will be joining my daughter and her husband in returning to Scotland later this year, perhaps only for a short time, or perhaps longer.
Until then I am available for anyone who needs advice.
Warm Regards and may God bless.
